About Our Director

Mr. Xavia B. Jackson, Consulting Director of Dance Teams

X, better known as Xavia, is an accomplished and well-rounded creative architect hailing from Alabama. A 2017 graduate of The University of Alabama, Xavia received his Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a minor in Creative Directing. After becoming a two-time Fulbright Semi-Finalist in 2020, he obtained his Master of Science in Digital Marketing from the University of Roehampton London School of Business in 2021; Subsequently obtaining his Master of Research in Choreography and Performance from the University of Roehampton London School of Arts the following year completing his double masters with distinction in the top percentile of his class.

Mr. Jackson’s curriculum vitae is extensive, with backgrounds in project management, organizational advising, and social media and brand strategy. He is

currently the Consulting Director of Dance Teams at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In this role, he has been a key factor in campus dance teams’ success by

facilitating training camps, rehearsals, and performances, generating a media presence, and developing brands for dance teams, including international travel and performance.

In 2014, Xavia founded his apparel brand, GxBernard Neckwear, while studying at The University of Alabama. As a budding entrepreneur, he saw success in hosting pop-up shops and coordinating fashion shows. This allowed him to highlight other student designers and creatives at surrounding universities, all while passionately designing and creating contemporary men and women’s wear for his brand. Xavia has had the opportunity to direct and implement creative control over multiple projects over the years, including:

Xavia’s latest project from his London capstone, fittingly titled Permissions. Through this project, Xavia sought to explore the barriers of masculinity in the black

community and ask the question, “What Happens When a Black Man Gives Himself Permission to Dream?”. The self-invasive and vulnerable performance project

incorporates Afro elements of Futurism, Surrealism, and Expression through Black American performance culture and the influence of black musicianship. “Through my

knowledge and experiences as a Black man in America, I have cultivated something that does not have boundaries or limitations but allows us deeper thought of hope, visibility, unity and Black excellence,” Xavia Jackson said, speaking on his final portfolio performance.

Currently, as Xavia continues his journey of creative consulting, movement coaching through dance and manual therapies, and project management, he is near the

end of the development phases of his for-profit and non-profit companies, BlackPrint Creative: A Creative Architect Firm and MIS, Inc., which both place the importance of visibility and representation of black creatives and business minds at the forefront in fashion, film, and entertainment.

Returning from London, Xavia has continued his movement research with certifications in manual therapies: stretch and fascia to introduce a new means of body

maintenance to his students and soon surrounding communities.

Xavia has held positions at the University of Roehampton London, The University of Alabama, and Stillman College, working with campus departments and organizations to increase student engagement, close inequality gaps, and oversee student organizations.
